The customer portal

Updated June 18, 2026

The customer portal is a private, login-protected area where your customers can view their inspection reports, sign agreements, and see their booking history. It is hosted by Inspector Studio and available to all contacts who have an email address on file.

What customers can do in the portal

  • View published reports — customers can read their inspection reports in the full report viewer. Reports are only visible after you publish them.

  • Sign agreements — any agreements attached to their booking that require a signature can be signed electronically from the portal.

  • Download documents — signed agreements and other documents you have made available to them can be downloaded.

  • View booking details — customers can see the basics of their booking: date, time, property address, and assigned inspector.

How customers log in

Customers do not create passwords. They log in using a one-time code sent to their email address.

  1. The customer visits your portal URL (which is the same as your landing page URL, under the /customer path — or you can share the direct link).

  2. They enter their email address.

  3. Inspector Studio emails them a short code.

  4. They enter the code and are logged in.

The code expires quickly for security. If it expires before they use it, they can request a new one.

Sharing the portal link with customers

You can share the portal link in several ways:

  • Include it in your automated Conditional messages (for example, a "report ready" notification that links directly to the portal).

  • Copy the link from a booking and paste it into a message through Threads.

  • Include it in your email signature as a standing resource for customers.

What is visible to the customer

Customers can only see their own data — their own bookings, reports, and agreements. They cannot see other customers' records. They also cannot see anything that is marked internal, such as notes your team has added.

Reports are only visible after you publish them. If a report is still in draft, it does not appear in the portal.

Contact without a portal account

Not every contact needs to log in to the portal. A contact without an email address, or one who has not been sent a portal link, simply does not have portal access. You can still manage their booking fully from your side.
