Services and pricing

Updated June 18, 2026

Services are the inspection types your company offers. Setting them up in Inspector Studio means they are available for selection when creating a booking, and their prices auto-populate on invoices. Here is how to manage your service catalog.

Getting there

Go to Settings → Services in the left navigation.

Adding a service

  1. Click New Service.

  2. Fill in the service details:

    • Name — what the service is called. This appears on invoices and booking records (for example, "Standard Home Inspection," "4-Point Inspection," "Wind Mitigation").

    • Description — an optional longer description visible internally and potentially on the customer-facing booking widget.

    • Base price — the standard price for this service. This pre-fills when the service is added to a booking, but can be overridden per-booking.

    • Duration estimate — how long this service typically takes. Used for calendar scheduling.

    • Report type — optionally link this service to a specific report type. When the service is added to a booking, the linked report type can be auto-created.

  3. Click Save.

The service is now available when creating or editing a booking.

Add-ons

Add-ons are optional extras that can be attached to a service. They appear as selectable options when that service is added to a booking.

To create an add-on:

  1. Open a service.

  2. Scroll to the Add-ons section.

  3. Click Add Add-on.

  4. Enter the add-on name, price, and optional description.

  5. Save.

Examples of add-ons: Radon Test, Sewer Scope, Mold Screening, Pool & Spa Inspection.

Editing a service

Click any service in the list to open it for editing. Change the name, description, price, or duration. Click Save. Changes apply to future bookings — existing bookings are not retroactively updated.

Deactivating a service

If you no longer offer a service, deactivate it rather than deleting it. Deactivated services do not appear in the service selection list when creating a booking, but historical bookings that used the service are unaffected.

To deactivate: open the service and toggle Active off.

Pricing per inspection type

Some companies have different pricing depending on the size or age of the property. You can handle this a few ways:

  • Create multiple versions of a service (for example, "Home Inspection < 1,500 sq ft" and "Home Inspection 1,500–2,500 sq ft") each with a different base price.

  • Create one service and use the price override on each booking to set the correct amount for that property.

Many inspectors use the override approach for flexibility and use the base price as the most common price point.
